Arvon runs an annual programme of residential creative writing courses at four writing houses – in Shropshire, Devon, West Yorkshire and Inverness. They are a charity, and have been helping writers to access their potential since 1968. Nothing is prescriptive, and everything is about encouraging your progression as a writer, whether you’ve been writing for a year or a decade.
Tutored by leading authors, the week-long courses in a range of genres include a powerful mix of workshops and individual tutorials, time and space to write and an inspirational rural setting.
More details on the courses Arvon offers…
Amongst the many courses are writing and editing fiction, non-fiction and poetry, untutored retreats for those seeking a quiet space to release their imagination, and genre bending novelties such as Book Art and Flash Fiction. Tutors include acclaimed writers such as Jackie Kay, Jo Shapcott, Sunjeev Sahota, Mona Arshi, Kei Miller, Jake Arnott and Mark Haddon amongst others.
Grants are available to help with course fees. For more information on this or other details of what Arvon does, go to www.arvon.org/course
